Santa Pola is a fishing town that is now best known as a popular tourist resort. The proximity of Alicante airport and the good sandy beaches in combination with the perfect climate of the Costa Blanca make Santa Pola a popular place to stay. Santa Pola is a lively town. Even in winter there is enough activity, unlike many small tourist resorts.
In the summer the town fills mainly with Spanish holidaymakers. Foreign restaurants or cafes are much less present than in many places elsewhere on the Costa Blanca. Santa Pola still retains the atmosphere of a typical Spanish fishing village on the Mediterranean.
The access roads to Santa Pola are very good. Moreover, Santa Pola is located near the airport of Alicante airport. To the south, the airport of Murcia San Javier is not far away. South of Santa Pola are La Marina, Guardamar del Segura and Torrevieja. Alicante is situated in the north of Santa Pola.
From Santa Pola one can visit the island Tabarca. Regular ferries leave from the port of Santa Pola.
The port of Santa Pola is still in operation and every evening you can return the fishing boats with their catch. Santa Pola also has a beautiful marina where many boats are moored. The main square of Santa Pola is the Plaza de la Glorieta. This is a nice place to stay in the evening. There are many stalls with Spanish delicacies, ice cream, drinks and sale of trinkets.
The beaches of Santa Pola are generally wide and have many facilities. Direction north with the beaches of Vardero Beach and Levante Beach (north). In a southerly direction are the staves of Gran Playa (the main beach of Santa Pola), Pinet Beach, La Gola beach, Playa Lisa Beach and Tamarit Beach.
